A calm and structured
beginning to new parenting

Whilst being a new parent can feel joyful and exciting, it can also feel confusing and overwhelming. My 12-Week Plan helps to guide parents right from the start, creating calm babies and confident parents who understand their baby.

Together, we introduce gentle predictability to their days and peaceful nights. The 12-Week Plan is baby-led — but with focus and consideration. It is developmentally appropriate and evolves as the baby develops and matures.

The key is consistency, creating calm and confident parents which in turn creates calm, happy babies.

At every stage, the baby's best interests are at heart — respecting their need for comfort and reassurance, whilst implementing some structure in the day and night, allowing tired parents to get some well needed rest.

Foundations

Building the foundations

During those very earliest of days we focus on creating a safe, calm environment — and laying the groundwork for everything that follows.

  • Creating a safe, calm environment for baby
  • Answering all your parenting questions
  • Feeding advice — whether breast feeding, formula feeding, or both — including feeding positions, tongue tie, latch advice, how to prepare and store breast milk and formula, and much more
  • Recognising your baby's feeding and sleep cues
  • Introducing the "It's as Easy as 1 2 3" method — creating a gentle, predictable flow to the day and night
  • Advice on how to wind your baby and the importance of winding
  • Supporting parental rest and recovery
Many parents choose to combine this stage with my Welcome Home Package, so I am there in person for those very early days (subject to availability). These early weeks lay the foundations for the rest of the plan that follows.

Development

Growing awareness & rhythm

Babies are now more alert and active. They respond to calm, consistent, confident parenting. Building on the foundations, we now introduce more structure.

  • A predictable, more structured rhythm to the day — resulting in longer periods of sleep at night
  • The "Follow-on Plan" — encouraging a longer lunchtime nap and a 7pm bedtime
  • Calm transitions between feeds, awake time and sleep
  • Supporting parents to recognise their baby's natural wake windows, sleep cycles and sleep cues
  • A consistent bedtime routine, providing a calm and predictable bedtime environment
  • Supporting parents to help their baby self-settle — without leaving them to cry it out
  • Answering any questions that parents may have

Flourishing

Longer nights, calmer days

Babies are now developmentally capable of much longer periods of sleep. Parents often notice significant improvements in the length of time their baby sleeps at night.

  • Supporting parents to help their baby settle calmly for naps and at bedtime
  • Maintaining the "It's as Easy as 1 2 3" method — to encourage longer and longer stretches of sleep at night
  • Continuing to support parents to help their baby self-settle between sleep cycles
  • Answering any questions that parents may have
